Gasketed Plate Heat Exchanger

A gasketed plate heat exchanger (also known as a plate and frame heat exchanger) is a compact thermal transfer unit built from a series of thin, corrugated metal plates sealed with elastomer gaskets. The plates are clamped together in a frame, and every second plate is turned 180° to create alternate hot and cold channels. Hot and cold fluids flow through these channels without mixing, transferring heat across the plate wall.

In commercial heating plant rooms, a gasketed plate heat exchanger is often installed alongside a low loss header to keep primary boiler and secondary heating circuits hydraulically separate. An air and dirt separator on the return side protects the plates from magnetite and debris, extending cleaning intervals and maintaining thermal performance.
